I understand that finding a New York City apartment with the perfect mix of location, cleanliness, safety, and price is difficult, but if you want to live here long term, you have to be willing to make concessions and find a sustainable balance. I used to live in Weehawken, New Jersey, a twenty minute commute from midtown Manhattan.

Small wind turbines are creeping into suburbia, driving down electricity bills and fighting global warming. California and New Jersey are huge markets for small turbine manufacturers. And, the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act increased the federal tax credit for purchasing small wind systems to 30%.

For 20 or so years I’ve been homeschooling my kids, and am now down to about 1 1/2 (one full-time homeschooler, and one doing College Credit Plus with some support). I know my dad got frustrated by the bills sometimes, and I must have absorbed that anxiety, because sometimes I get very anxious about spending money.
