Buy dried milk to use in cooking – especially if you aren’t a regular milk drinker. Store food properly to make it last as long as possible. Instead of going out to eat with friends, take turns cooking and eating at each home. If you can’t afford a gift, make or do something for the recipient.

Instead they had a well, an outhouse, a wood burning stove for heat and another for cooking. Americans pride themselves on their ‘Yankee ingenuity’ – making do or doing without. Physical books that help me learn how to do things I might need to do. Wood was there for the taking.
