Chances are, if you have kids, you will become one some day. Your kid is having a kid! Here are four things I learned after having grandchildren. My Aunt and Uncle used to take each of their grandchildren on a trip when they reached the ripe old age of 8. While true, that may not be the best course of action.

My grown kids are also savers and I have high hopes that the grandchildren will follow their example. To learn to live within your means is one of our primary family money values. Helping the parents teach my grandchildren to save is an ongoing project of mine. Both are now old enough to open a bank savings account.

It is a family friendly theme park with craftsmen, rides, shows, restaurants and play areas. Since we own a condo in the area, I have often thought of taking the grand-kids to Silver Dollar City. We felt the kids would be well worn out in that time frame. Food and drink and some entertainment venues are extra.

Summer jobs become permanent ones; family or friends pressure young people toward options that avoid temporary unemployment. It didn’t. At the time we were substantially poor.

It was the trip of a lifetime with our extended family (two sons, their spouses and two of our grandchildren). Each family charted their own way out, in their own vehicles but we stayed together loosely in the park. We had two family dinners, one at Old Faithful Inn and one at Lake Yellowstone. Job perks add to employee.
