At the time, I didn’t have credit cards so it was a valid concern. As an adult, I use both cash and credit as well as checks. Occasionally merchants will discount the price because they don’t have to pay the credit card fees on your purchase. That day the entire credit system nearly collapsed.

Although that probably wasn’t true, by the numbers, it was true for us psychologically. Maybe that is why our credit card bills are so high! According to the 2014 Wealth Report , put out by Credit Suisse, the world-wide range for middle class is $10,000 to $100,000 net worth (in US dollars).
