The Grandkids are 9 and 12 now with lots of time before they have to start supporting themselves somehow. Many of you may have followed a similar unplanned path to your job or career. Years later, I asked my Mom why she hadn’t suggested another path for me, since there were no jobs.

Sometimes I add some onions but not always because my daughter is not a big fan of them. If the tomatoes are tart I may add a pinch of sugar, but usually not. Which, when you are a working mom who needs to put dinner on the table at a reasonable time, is really helpful. My daughter makes a pretty good meat. Impatiently.

We took my Mom with us to Florida in the 1980’s. Sure, we are retired and can go anytime, but parents may have busy times at work, limited vacation days available or other commitments. Another time, my spouse and I took a Yellow Bus tour – sans kids or grandkids. Camping may be an alternative for some.
