You don’t have to contend with deciding which bill to pay or how to avoid a debt collector’s call or trying to keep the landlord off your back. You still want to do your best at work. Household debt stood at $13,200,000,000,000 at the end of the third quarter of 2010 (according to a 2011 ‘‘Flow of Funds’’ report by the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System).

Many well to do families have been counting on this as a way to pass along significant wealth to their next generations. Second, if I didn’t have it converted, the tax bill each year will be horrendous for them, because it would be now and I sure don’t see tax rates going down with the national debt being 15+ TRILLION dollars.

I found pleasure in thinking about giving our children and grandchildren the opportunity to see part of the world they might not otherwise see. We could well afford the cost with no foreseeable problem with our own finances now or at any time in the future. One son is trying to rebuild finances after an expensive year.
