Christmas was a one week event – between Dec 25 and Jan. School started after Labor Day and ended after Memorial Day. Gasoline stations did not serve food, have coffee or provide bath rooms. You had to ask to be excused from the dinner table. You didn’t start eating until everyone was served and seated.
