I was a teenager in the 90s, and while this may be true of other eras as well, I remember there being a LOT of matching sets, particularly when it came to home decor. Well…MY SWEATER HAS DUCKS ON IT. But if you are willing to be patient, it definitely is possible to find cheap/free things that coordinate.

I believe these bulbs are the original pair from when I got my van, so I figure that if one is burnt out, the other one is on its last leg as well. I tried them on, but I was definitely skinnier in 2012 than I am now because I could barely button these pants, even standing up. I tried a thrift store first, but came up dry.

As well as other “from scratch” things like my current main hobby of teaching myself how to spin yarn from our sheeps’ wool. I ‘ve been reading The Frugal Girl for 4+ years now, definitely pre-pandemic but I’m not sure how much before. I do a lot of our cooking from scratch which takes a lot of my time!

I’m constantly trying to optimize our spending to find ways to save money, but still live quite comfortably and well. In April, we saved quite a bit of money by comparison shopping, and choosing thrift first. April’s Thrift Store Finds. My next stop was my favorite thrift store, Community Aid.

I think I have become pretty darn good at it, and I will even haggle successfully at big chain stores like Macy’s, Home Depot, and Best Buy. Hopefully this advice can help you save some money as well and turn the art of haggling into a habit. There definitely is a science to haggling and choosing the right words to use.

Our sweet Ruby has assimilated into our family quite well. There is definitely a training period as Ruby needs to get used to the feel of the new collar, but she stopped pulling almost immediately. The girls and I hit my favorite thrift store this week. She’s such an easy dog. She’s a keeper for sure!
