Well, I try not to overpack my carry-on, but it's still just a carry-on. It's served me well for at least a decade so far. I don't go out for every meal if I can help it. Back-up battery Nothing sucks worse than when your phone battery dies as you're trying to call the hotel or get an Uber or take a picture of something awesome.

I love to travel but when it comes to staying in hotels, I want to stay in a 5 star without breaking the bank! My favorite hotel in London is: the Dorchester Hotel. being a mom of a competitive cheerleader, I travel a lot to competitions both in and out of state. The out-of-state can cost me a lot of mulah.

Well, and that’s how I ended up on Kristen’s blog. And eating out wasn’t the exception for me then. Well, I can’t say it comes naturally to me. At that time the demand for foreign English teachers was so high that schools even hired non-native speakers, as long as they looked, well, foreign.

There was the gas, the hotel, and the restaurants to pay for. We thought eating in restaurants was a main attraction of travel because you get to try local foods. Even when eating out on the cheap, we were still spending hundreds of dollars on food. Use hotel rewards. Ask for a better hotel rate or room.

We have a lot of free parks and nature reserves for hiking, and a wonderful library system that does free Inter Library Loans as well as lots of e-books. Also, we’re by a military base, so it’s a little easier to find houses to rent if you know when people will be PCSing out and needing to rent out their homes.

Instead of buying bowls, we buy a bag of paper cups that we use for drinking as well as for cereal in the mornings when we travel. For those times that you will want to eat out, see what’s available at Restaurant.com ahead of time. Sites such as Priceline , Hotwire and Travelocity (and many other sites too!)

Well, as much as somebody who works full time is ever able to be. Even buying pre-made salads and entrees at the grocery store is substantially cheaper than eating out. Bonus tip: There are often great deals on attractions on daily deal sites, so keep you eye open for those as well. Daily Deal Sites. Pack Snacks.
