A day in the life: a nursing school day

The Frugal Girl

Last time I did a day-in-the-life post , nursing school hadn’t started. My days have changed a LOT since then, so here’s a peek at a day in nursing school. 6:30 I woke up, laid motionless in bed in the dark for a while, then checked my phone (I know, I know… the routine of champions.) 7:00 I got up, threw some clothes on, did a bare minimum hair/makeup thing, and ate a bowl of shredded wheat. 7:30 I walked to school, carrying nothing except my little school-required calculator.

WIS, WWA | $149 and I’m not pressed

The Frugal Girl

What I Spent This week, I spent: $32 on a Hungry Harvest box $40 on a Dinnerly box (Dinnerly is like Blue Apron, but cheaper) $77 at Aldi So, $149 for me this week. Which is a little high, but I don’t care. I can only be pressed about so many things at one time, and right now, my grocery spending is not it. My main goal is to mostly cook at home, and other than that, I’m not stressing for now.

Five Frugal Things | by the seat of my pants

The Frugal Girl

A lot of weeks when I sit down to write my Five Frugal Things post, I have a good idea of what I’m gonna include. But this last week has been a doozy (I feel like I am saying that a lot lately…) and so I’m sitting here with no plan. This FFT fare might be not-too-exciting. But let’s see what I can come up with! 1. I made chicken broth from two rotisserie chicken carcasses I had two chicken’s worth of bones in my chest freezer, and on Sunday I took them out and made

Thankful Thursday | My friend’s an RN!

The Frugal Girl

This week, I am thankful: that my friend passed her NCLEX! Remember my friend Mia? Mia and me in 2018, not too long after she moved to Ohio I knew her from church, and while we both are single moms pursuing an RN, she got an earlier start on both the divorce and the nursing school. She was a star student in nursing school, so I was quite sure she was going to pass her NCLEX on the first try, and this week, she did!

Meet a Reader | Mbmom11, in the Midwest

The Frugal Girl

Know what’s funny? In a previous Meet a Reader post, we met MB in MN. Which is pretty similar to MB in the Midwest! This midwestern reader has 11 children, though, which is why she comments under Mbmom11. ? Here’s MB: 1. Tell us a little bit about yourself. I live in the Midwest with my family. I have 11 kids, ages 9-29, and two cats. I’ve been teaching part time for over 25 years.
