I give away perfectly good electronics because they are ‘out of date’ – they don’t work with new software. He built his own garage. At garage sales, are you attracted to those still usable but slightly defective items that no one else wants? Many of us throw the broken or outdated item out.

I happened upon some old canning Mason jars at a garage sale, and now we use those for everything–making iced tea in the summer, putting leftover soup in, holding our homemade laundry detergent. Not only do we save money this way, but we help the environment by having a slower turnover with our electronics. Go Frugal Go Green'

However, I wait until spring and summer to buy decorations – and get them at garage sales. Practically every site I checked recommended waiting to buy brand name TVs until the electronics show in mid-January takes place. I always shop for Christmas wrapping paper, gift tags, boxes and really nice ornaments the week after Christmas.
