The problem is, I rent an apartment with a tiny lawn in the near suburbs of a large urban city. Last year we also “rented” two organic apple trees about two hours away from us. We paid $55 to rent each tree, and then when the apples were ripe, the farm called us. The rest we froze to eat all winter long.

My husband and I just commented this week about how active we have been--VBS, Y-camp, play-dates, boating with the grandparents, weekend trips to visit extended family and friends, trips to the playground, picnics, swimming at the community pool, CSA farm days, a day trip to Central Park zoo, and a summer vacation to the beach.

As the Family Office Manager , I handle the day-to-day finances for our family and I needed a way to communicate our finances to my husband. Everything changed. But, we also need stuff for emotional support – stuff to remind us that we are part of a generations old family, that we have accomplished significant tasks, seen impressive places and conquered difficult situations. We rent a shelter (usually), and it is bare! They have more money to spend on stuff. You move on.
