Today we’re meeting a reader who’s been here since 2009 (!!) I’m a huge fan of mystery novels and wondered what was involved in becoming a licensed PI in my state (a 60-hour training course and a culminating 3-hour exam). He’s incredibly handy and does woodworking as a hobby. Here’s Beth: 1.

What are your hobbies? We knew the principles of Financial Peace University; however, we also met with a financial planner who was also a huge Dave Ramsey fan. Meet with a financial advisor. Our goal is to meet with experts and ask them for advice. For us, we have weekly staff meetings with each other.

It is a perfect fit for me, as frugality is my hobby and passion, but I also find myself very attracted to the “go green” movement. Oh yeah, and I am a huge Neil Diamond fan (just had to throw that out there)! I Have Frugal Hobbies. Some hobbies, like mine, can actually help you live more frugally!

Meet Regularly to Discuss Finances. Meeting regularly could be every Sunday night or every pay day, whatever fits your schedule. If possible, make it a kid-free meeting. That usually gives us enough time to meet. In other words, you might need to be creative to carve out the time to meet regularly.

We generally would rather veg out in front of the TV than meet up with a mentor or somebody with whom you can talk for hours, because we equate not thinking as relaxing. I’m a big fan of entertaining yet educational activities. How do you stay entertained? .
