I stopped by my two favorite thrift stores last week: Salvation Army & Community Aid, a local store. I only go on Wednesdays, because both stores offer an additional 50% off on almost everything. Finally, spring has arrived in central PA, so I carved out some time last Wednesday to hit the thrift stores.

We found the best price for the Gentle Leader Headcollar at Amazon (that is my affiliate link) at around $8 less than the big box pet store. Ruby isn’t a big fan of the new collar, but she LOVES her walks more, so it’s staying! The girls and I hit my favorite thrift store this week. Sun-Brewed Iced Tea.

Years ago, Mom introduced me to the idea of going to garage sales. If you are in more of a hurry, find a thrift store instead. But, find one in a high end neighborhood, one where the store sorts through the donations to select only the best. Garage sales and thrift stores are great places to find books and DVDs.

People opened their windows and used attic fans or sat in metal lawn chairs outside to cool off. Mom and Dad used to change drivers while driving slowly down an empty street by sliding across the bench seat in front. Most of us did not have air conditioned homes. Some of us did not have central heat. Cars did not have bucket seats.

We found summer jammies and shorts at our favorite thrift store a few weeks ago. As I was sorting through the clothes at that last yard sale, the mom said to me, "do you need a winter coat? I also stumbled on a yard sale recently that had girls clothes in great condition marked at 3 for $1. Thanks for reading.
