After writing some financial goals that had a lot to do with researching topics, such as retirement and college savings strategies, I realized that maybe my word for 2020 was READ. Read: My 2020 Financial Goals. I thought about reusing REDUCE, but it’s a new year, so I need a new word. Enter 2021.

I’m always looking for ways to save my family money to help us get through current higher food and gas prices and achieve our big financial goals. There’s a better chance the healthy food will get eaten if it’s prepped, and it saves time on weekday mornings. I like to reuse them for lunches/snacks.

Our main financial goal is to pay off our last non-mortgage loan. It was a goal in 2018, but high medical bills and other financial challenges hindered our progress. The author, Bea Johnson, chronicles her journey of zero waste living through 5 Rs: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rot. My word for 2019 is REDUCE.
