Nine years later, the rent for similar homes in our neighborhood is double the cost of our mortgage! Childhood joy.

We did have a home inspection which was around $200 as well. In addition they paid the real estate commission of 12,639 (6% – which was split 50-50 between two different realtors) as well as a first and second mortgage. Of course, you have taxes every year you own the property as well. Home inspection. Capital Gains.

We leave the nest – move out of Mom and Dad’s well stocked home. We rent a shelter (usually), and it is bare! Things like he matching bedroom set, the lovely drapes, the brand new lawn equipment, and beautifully coordinated nursery furnishings. You get stuff. All our stuff fit in two rooms and a closet back then.
