I used an old seat cushion I had and wrapped it with brand new material from another garage sale to pretty it up and make it softer, then stacked new throw pillows I found at yet another sale for $.50 I used it for years and sold it – for $25 – last summer in my own garage sale. That is what this is.

This may sound like a great idea to you, but what can you do to get those multiple streams going? This was hubby’s hobby, but I thought maybe we could sell the birds (quail is good eating!). I’m betting that some of you folks may be writers – have you ever tried to have fiction published in a printed media?

I keep a roll of heavy paper (which I buy at Home Depot for about $11 for a roll about 2 inches thick and 2 feet wide) to use in wrapping packages, protecting floors during home projects, making garage sale signs and etc. I will probably use an old garage sale board game as the base, and just glue the printed game mat to it.

Have you ever shopped at neighborhood garage sales? Some folks view re-decorating as a hobby. You may have self-image problems , they suggest that you might be obsessive if you redecorate often. I’ve used these finds to help furnish and decorate a vacation rental and to fill in pieces we lacked at home.

As a hobby. Home decorating is another area where it may be possible to sew your own cheaper than buying. Perhaps something that gave you a marketable skill instead of a hobby skill? We tend to throw away clothing instead of mending it and we count on cheap overseas labor to keep manufactured clothing easily affordable.

However, she enjoyed her hobby immensely and kept right on collecting things of interest to her. That same person may troll neighborhood garage sales and offer to cart away anything left after the sale for free. Others may be appraisers or TV show stars as well! Enjoy your collections.
