I have always thought that “Christmas in July was a catch phrase made up by department stores to sell things in the slow summer months. . Apparently, according to multiple sources such as The Holiday Spot website, Wikipedia and various responders on Google Answers there really are actual Christmas celebrations in July.

Another source of clutter with kids is gifts that well-meaning friends and relatives give. I have a soft spot for good sales, whether they be at the local retail store (I bought way too many Gymboree shirts for my daughter when they were on sale for $3.99) or at a garage sale. After all, it’s so cheap.

Sometimes, as we shop we see things we would like to own and decide to treat ourselves with a gift or two as well. So, hey, I guess I can take the tax reduction next year as well as this! However, I wait until spring and summer to buy decorations – and get them at garage sales. I know I do. In fact, I did today!

I painted it and added some fun baskets to it for organizing as well. The picnic basket in the middle was an estate sale find and the little one on top.came from a garage sale. Use those as well. Shop garage sales and thrift stores and estate sales. Christmas decorations, wrap, bows and ribbon all are continuous offerings at pretty much every garage sale, thrift store or estate sale I’ve ever shopped. If you have old maps you no longer need, use them. Go Green'

Just bare twigs in a large vase, with old ornaments tied to them can be pretty as well. We live on the edge of the prairie and prairie grasses grow well here. They kind of look like the ones for sale at Curious Country Creations. Plan ahead and hit garage sales, but especially estate sales.
