Garage sale and thrift store furniture bargains abound. The secret to removing the smell does not lie with cleansers or sanitizing sprays, it just takes good old fresh air and sunshine – sometimes, lots of it. To solve the issue, I aired them on the porch and in the sunshine for about 2 months. The sun bakes out.

For awhile, there was a trend called ‘Shabby Chic’ Old wooden furniture, painted white – with crackled or chipped finishes – were highly regarded by collectors and decorators. Paintings, as we all know from watching the Road Show, sometimes gain value when properly cleaned and brightened. Store collections properly.
