We do put up decorations (ones I buy at garage sales or thrift stores and reuse each year). Bring in your slightly used, but in good shape costume and pick one from those others brought in – as a swap. Once the kids left home, we ended up with zero trick or treaters at our house on a state highway. Don’t buy, make.

You can often by these cheap at garage sales. What disposable items have you swapped out for reusable ones? This many not be the most socially acceptable thing to do, but you save on having to wash serving platters and utensils. If you’d like to make the switch from paper napkins, consider going to cloth napkins.
