I used an old seat cushion I had and wrapped it with brand new material from another garage sale to pretty it up and make it softer, then stacked new throw pillows I found at yet another sale for $.50 Outdoor bench (I refurbished it) $5.

Garage sale and thrift store furniture bargains abound. I used a standard hardware store staple gun that shot thick 3/8″ staples and was very hard to use. Whether you are just starting out; wanting to freshen up your own older items; or furnishing a second home, furniture buying can make a big dent in your budget.

Check out some thrift stores, vintage stores, flea markets, and garage sales. Pick out your desired paint color at the hardware store and ask the sales person what you will need to paint a room. It can be overwhelming going to look for new furniture and seeing all of those price tags. But there is good news.

Of course, to protect the glass and window/door hardware you have to tape and paper it. There is a lovely thrift store not far from my neighborhood that receives donations from the folks in the local golfing gated community. Otherwise I would have lost brain cells and gotten sick to my stomach. Cheap or frugal?
