I have always thought that “Christmas in July was a catch phrase made up by department stores to sell things in the slow summer months. . Apparently, according to multiple sources such as The Holiday Spot website, Wikipedia and various responders on Google Answers there really are actual Christmas celebrations in July.

I have a soft spot for good sales, whether they be at the local retail store (I bought way too many Gymboree shirts for my daughter when they were on sale for $3.99) or at a garage sale. If something is cheap at a garage sale, I may buy it even if I’m not sure that I’ll use it. After all, it’s so cheap.

Shop garage sales and thrift stores and estate sales. Christmas decorations, wrap, bows and ribbon all are continuous offerings at pretty much every garage sale, thrift store or estate sale I’ve ever shopped. I shop the after Christmas sales mainly to snarf up new wrapping paper and tags – when they are 50 or 75% off. Go Green'

The picnic basket in the middle was an estate sale find and the little one on top.came from a garage sale. Pocket Change Gourmet , launching in July! I painted it and added some fun baskets to it for organizing as well. The picnic basket on the bottom was passed on from my Mom, and I treasure it. They fit perfectly in the small basket!

However, I wait until spring and summer to buy decorations – and get them at garage sales. Christmas in July Christmas Shopping the Smart Way Do You Save Wrapping? I always shop for Christmas wrapping paper, gift tags, boxes and really nice ornaments the week after Christmas. Winter clothes.
