Gasoline stations did not serve food, have coffee or provide bath rooms. Planes were allowed to break the sound barrier over major metro areas (like St. No, I didn’t wear a poodle skirt! I wasn’t that cool. But I did wear saddle shoes and bobby socks. Women wore hats and gloves to church on Sunday. Men wore suits and hats.
