Although I live 200+ miles away from my two grandkids, I try to get them for a week or so during the summer. There are many documented benefits to utilizing grandparents to watch grandkids. Among them may be reduced risks of alzheimers ; increased brain power , and lowered possibilities of depression. I’m one of them.

When I was a young adult, out of college and into my first years of marriage, I cringed at the thought of getting money from my parents. If you’re looking for a place to take the kids or grandkids, the playground is always an easy answer and free of charge in most cases. Look for a local playground that has a cement or asphalt area where there may be hopscotch pre-drawn or you could take some sidewalk chalk and create your own. Make New Friends. Simon says swing.

If they are primary beneficiaries, the parents or guardians may have to go to court and get themselves designated as able to manage the account for the child. First, if I had managed to convert everything to a Roth, the grandkids would be swamped with hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.

Of course, we may just have puzzles on our minds because today, January 29, is National Puzzle Day. This year, we are encouraging parents and grandparents to take the Pledge to Puzzle: a commitment to spend at least 15 minutes doing a puzzle with a child on January 29. Here at Highlights, we love puzzles.

When she saw that her great-grandchildren were not writing thank you notes for her gifts to them, she sent their parents a set of Thank you note cards with envelopes and postage! From my Mother-in-laws perspective, the number one benefit to the great-grandkids of sending her a thank you note, is that she would continue to send them gifts.
