Reduce Your Heating Costs
Install/Use a Programmable Thermostat - if you have a regular schedule away from your home, a programmable thermostat will save you money by automatically lowering the temperature of the house when you are not home. Use a Space Heater – If your family is congregating in one room, consider using a space heater to warm up that room. I love fall with it’s colorful leaves (especially the bright reds…like the picture), visits to the apple orchards, college football games, and the smell of fires in fireplaces. However, it’s not my favorite season,

Is Frugality in your Genes?
As I was helping my grandparents, I wondered if her saving so much stuff was a reflection of the way she was raised. He told me once that he was "saving ecology" by riding his bike (that comment was made back in the late 80s', when green was just a color of every one's favorite m&m). The only room in the whole house with any type of heat was their upstairs bathroom with it's baseboard electric heater. A few weekends ago, my extended family took on the task of helping my grandparents clean out the attic in their 100+ years old farm house. They started early on a Saturday morning

Saving Money on Your Water Heating Bill
Last week (my husband) and I took another step to decreasing our heating bills this winter; we installed a water heater blanket. My Favorite Ways To Save Money!
For my Coupon giveaway I asked for comments on your favorite money saving tips, and you all have left some really good ones. I decided to write about the ways that I love to save. My number one way to save is always shop with coupons. When I go shopping, if it is not on sale and I do not have a coupon, most of the time I do not buy it. I know there are many people who say coupons end up costing you more, but I find that if you use them wisely you can save tons of money.

Are You Kidding Me: Cutting Summer Energy Bills
Did you know that you could save up to $200 a year using a programmable thermostat? Replacing large appliances like washers, dryers, refrigerators, and dishwashers can save you money using up to 50% less energy then your current models. Start small to absorb the cost of getting started with solar energy with a water heater. I just received an energy bill for $219.00…I about lost it. This is excessive for less then 1200 square feet of space.
