I made homemade applesauce when the orchard was having an end of season sale. I made homemade chicken stock from bones that I keep in the freezer until I have enough to make a big pot of stock.

I stopped adding sugar years ago and now prefer adding my homemade herb-flavored simple syrup to each individual glass. Don’t spend too much money on a sun tea jar, I see them at yard sales and thrift stores all of the time. Place the pitcher in the refrigerator to chill. It is so much better this way.

In April, we saved quite a bit of money by comparison shopping, and choosing thrift first. April’s Thrift Store Finds. My next stop was my favorite thrift store, Community Aid. Note to self, next year, DON’T FORGET THE HOMEMADE CUPCAKES! The big hitters this month saved us about $500. Total Savings: $300.
