Since water and snow falls from the sky for free, my landlord made it so that after it lands on the roof it then runs down some pipes into the ground, providing more than enough to water the trees and plants without using any municipal water.

That did teach us a lesson about home ownership: that it was something we were taught was a mark of being an adult, but really, when you “own” a home, unless you’ve paid off the mortgage, the bank is your landlord and you’re just renting. We rent now and are much happier. If we want it, let’s buy it.

You never know what could be in store in 2-5 years. Just think – when the pipe breaks, you just call your landlord and you don’t have to deal with (or pay for it) yourself. This is a big problem for recent graduates. You may have to move to secure a good job, so you don’t necessarily want to settle down and buy right away.
