Your local library is a wonderful resource when it comes to saving money, and it is one that many people do not even know about. Take the time, now, to Google your local library if you do not know where it is already. Many local libraries offer all of their services for free or for a small fee.

As an adult, I can see it was likely a mixture of not enough income, high cost of living area, mismanagement of money, and kids just being expensive for single mothers particularly. What’s the “why” behind your money-saving efforts? I became an immediate saver and always looked for ways to make due.

I’ve been an architect, day-care teacher to toddlers, and library clerk, but am currently a SAHM to a 14yo son and 9yo daughter. What’s the “why” behind your money-saving efforts? Having money already set aside also means we can pay upfront for most home maintenance costs. Enjoying some outdoor time.

How did you get interested in saving money? Back when I was engaged and living on my own for the first time (I lived with my parents while in grad school to save on rent), I went to the library a lot and found a copy of the Tightwad Gazette. What’s the “why” behind your money-saving efforts?

Can’t believe I live here – a lake near my house Because I’ve lived so many different places, I’ve seen first-hand how good use of available resources can really improve overall community experiences, such as community gardens that utilize city-wide composting programs, to libraries, cycling infrastructure.
