The fail: I got sucked in with a Sam’s Club sample I almost never buy the foods they serve as samples, but this time I cracked! The sample was a small cup of seasoned pretzels, and I thought the pretzels would be savory. I decided homemade crackers are not at all worth the effort.

If you wonder whether a food item can be frozen, or how it will be when it thaws, try it with a small test sample! I typically freeze: homemade broth homemade applesauce homemade freezer jam soups extra spaghetti sauce Relatedly, my “try it and see how it goes” philosophy is helpful for freezing foods.
