My WWII era uncle and his wife made trips annually with one of their 4 grandchildren (a different one each year). But our best trip was in 2012, when we funded a trip to Yellowstone with our two sons, their wives and our grandchildren. For our 2012 trip (which we took in June), I started the fall before. Start planning early.
