He actually gets about 2/3 of his parting salary in pension form, even when providing me with a survivor benefit. Health insurance is a bit more pricy than when employed, but less than a lot of other people pay. That isn’t the way I wanted to end my 25+ years of active working. I wanted to go out with full honors.
