Is the Building of Experiences and Memories Worth the Cost?

I found pleasure in thinking about giving our children and grandchildren the opportunity to see part of the world they might not otherwise see. The other wants to pay off some student loan debt and would really rather go elsewhere anyway. Normally I am very frugal and a saver, but this trip meant more to me than the money involved.
