It is not only sustainable but also a great way to help reduce your gift giving budget. I yard sale and thrift all year long for my booth. I thought why am I not thrifting for more people on my gift giving list? My Aunt Ida always gifted pre-loved items and they were some of the best gifts I ever received.

I’m not advocating that you add yet another gift giving celebration to your already expensive holiday traditions, but I do want to encourage you to think about Christmas in the month of July. I have an Aunt that loves to give small gifts to many of her neighbors. If you garage sale, look for those decorations!

My Aunt, God rest her soul, saved Christmas paper and those silly little paper bows from year to year. Some retail stores do still give out gift boxes for free, always check if you are buying in a brick and mortar store. Christmas cards are becoming a forgotten tradition, but we still get and give some. Ask for gift boxes.

This would be a great Christmas gift idea for the fellow couponer (your mom, grandmother, sister, aunt, etc.). Grab one subscription for yourself, and give the other as a gift! Great for stacking on BOGO sales at various stores). Or just grab two for yourself, so that you have two of each coupon in the magazine every month!

So, it’s OK to want stuff, to get stuff, to give stuff, to use stuff, and to get rid of stuff. Some get stuff from stores, the less financially favored head for thrift stores, garage sales, Mom’s house or the trash pickup routes. You start to give a bit of stuff away. Moving to a bigger home. You get more stuff.
