The “Friendship Tax”.

Just like there’s a cost of doing business, there’s a cost of doing friendship- attending social occasions, meeting for drinks, etc. Rather than being shaped by the friendship itself, it seems to be dictated by the occasions and life choices of one friend. For instance, my aunt never got married nor did she have any children.

The road connected the big white house of my great aunt and uncle, my grandfather’s house and the house of another great aunt and uncle that didn’t even have running water – they brought in water from a well in the yard!

OK, I confess, I do still use my iron, on occasion but I believe I am in the minority on this one. As my Aunt M. They were used to protect clothing while cooking – to keep grease splatters and spills contained on the apron. Of course, many times they were for show as well. Most clothing comes out of the dryer wrinkle free.
