I do use real vanilla extract now, but for years I used the less expensive imitation extract. Use oleo instead of butter in the recipe and avoid adding nuts. These cookies have very little sugar, but do use almond. Pumpkin bread. 1 C shortening (I use vegetable). Oatmeal cookies with raisins and sprinkles.
