If you get newspapers, use newsprint with bright colored ribbon or bows. My brother once cleaned potato chip bags after turning them inside out and used those as gift bags! Some retail stores do still give out gift boxes for free, always check if you are buying in a brick and mortar store. Use paper from other sources.
