The average home size in America was around 1100 square feet. Ours was smaller (about 700 square feet) – 2 bedrooms (my brother and I shared one and my parents the other), a kitchen and a living room, No basement or garage. Most of us did not have air conditioned homes. Toni home perms were prevalent. Entertainment.

Home offices. Yes more folks work from home these days and the tax laws encourage setting aside a space to dedicate to a home office. My parents made do with one for most of their years, even when my brother and I started driving. Heck, I used to go to the Y and work out over lunch. 200+ TV channels.
