We do put up decorations (ones I buy at garage sales or thrift stores and reuse each year). Search the attic, the backs of the closets, the garage and see what inspiration presents. Dad’s old cowboy hat and a rope from the garage can be the start of a cowboy get up. No kids = no parties or haunted houses = money saved.

Buy in bulk. With the rise of Costco, Sam’s Club, and BJ’s Wholesale, it has gotten easier than ever to buy items in bulk. Buying in bulk seems like it would cost more and would be more harmful to the environment but the truth is that it’s not. Buying in bulk reduces the amount of packaging that is needed for a product.

Despite all this, however, the bulk of the responsibility falls on my shoulders. Organizing various storage spaces such as your kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, and garage. I’ve always loved going to sales – garage sales, estate sales, auctions, moving sales – no matter. To be successful, I think you need access to free or really cheap bulk sale items. You need to be the gal going in after the neighborhood garage sales and hauling everything left away – for free.
