There was very little I had to buy for my child after these showers. Garlick got all of her children’s clothes and gear from friends, family, and sites like Freecycle. However, who is to say that they did not also buy their own items used? All those items got plenty of use as all three of my kids used them.

If you aren’t sure about buying reusable bags , at the very least, you can save the bags from your last shopping trip and bring them in. These make great shopping bags, and you won’t have to buy new bags. However, it makes sense to look for used items before you go buy new. Stop with the Bottled Water.

Pressure canners are a bit more expensive to buy and complicated to use. You might even luck out and find one listed on Freecycle or in your local paper’s classified ad section. You may have noticed that no where in this list did I mention buying used canning lids. That is because you should never reuse canning lids.

You can then take those old cell phones, clothes or magazines to the appropriate recycling depots, ustilize websites such as Craigslist or Freecycle to give away any items you want cleared out quickly and then have a yard sale or an online auction to rid yourself of those unwanted items that are still in saleable condition.

Did you find something on Freecycle that you were planning to purchase? Today I’m participating in the Ultimate Blog Swap. can be downright overwhelming. Another option is to simply bank your savings. If you use $10 in coupons on a grocery purchase, add $10 to a sinking fund. If you submit a $5 rebate, add $5 to your sinking fund.
