Growing up in the fifties made me everlastingly grateful for a number of things, such as hot running water, central air conditioning, automatic dishwashers, TV remote control, the internet, personal computers (typewriters really sucked – no backspacing!), On Christmas eve, gangs of kids caroled from house to house.

Needs vs. Wants

Prairie Eco-Thrifter

Two car garages. With the two income household came the need for more than one set of wheels and consequently the desire for multiple garages. There were few dishwashers, no garbage disposers, trash compactors, granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances or Jenn-air ranges. We still just have one at our house though.
