We use the eggs, harvest meat & if I can’t get out to hunt venison we’ve had friends give us meat. I was born frugal, into a super frugal family. I had three baby showers when I was pregnant for my son–one from each side of the family and one from my co-workers. Many of the other items I needed like cloth diapers and clothes for the baby in bigger sizes I bought from garage sales. I’ve seen friends of mine spend hundreds of dollars per season on their infants.

In the fall, after first frost, I pick interesting looking grasses, with seed heads intact and bunch them into 4” wide 12 “ tall stand up decorations – just by tying a Christmas ribbon around them in the middle. They kind of look like the ones for sale at Curious Country Creations. Thrift stores are also a great place to shop.
