We do put up decorations (ones I buy at garage sales or thrift stores and reuse each year). Tip # 2 Recycle/reuse costumes. Compost it by cutting it up and putting it on the pile. My daughter-in-law came up with this idea, buying bulk pumpkins and bulk flowers. Like me, buy them used and then reuse them each year.

Zero-waste is a concept that the very idea of waste should be eliminated; instead, any and all products, resources, materials, and leftovers should be returned for further use in the same or in a different capacity. Glass or metal can last a lifetime should you wish to reuse either one and are better recycling material than plastic is.

Choose decorations that can be reused or that are made of natural materials and so can be recycled in the garden or compost. Another idea to save on electricity usage for your party is to hire a large marquee and erect it in your yard or in the local park (provided you are allowed to do this).
