Most telephones were on a party line (and yes the parties did ease drop on each other, but they also let us do ‘conference’ calls). Coupons were in the newspaper. Gasoline stations did not serve food, have coffee or provide bath rooms. Weather prediction was terrible. News reports on TV happened once a day.
