We thought eating in restaurants was a main attraction of travel because you get to try local foods. Even when eating out on the cheap, we were still spending hundreds of dollars on food. Use discounts on rental cars. As much as possible, we try to stay at the same hotel chain so we can accrue rewards points.

Personally, I like having an overall budget because trying to keep track of what we spend every day stresses me out. We usually go with one empty credit card, put everything on that ONE card so it’s easy to keep track of, and try our best not to go over our spending goal. Loyalty can pay off. It’s too risky.
