When I was a young adult, out of college and into my first years of marriage, I cringed at the thought of getting money from my parents. Daughters and sons of very wealthy families sometimes want to disown the family wealth in order to prove themselves. Perhaps though, you are doing your parents a disservice by refusing their gifts.

Knowing I had the financial backing to live through negative life events (divorce, job loss, catastrophe, etc) removed a level of stress from my life. That is one reason I hold my Grandma Rie’s Money Camp each summer with my grandchildren (our third generation). Having enough money can remove stress from your life.
