We should expect more, not less, from our daughters and granddaughters in the work arena. At the same time, we have to establish different expectations on the home front for our sons and grandsons. We must have the same or similar career expectations for our daughters as we do for our sons. I think it would.

When my grown son wanted to lose weight, he started by convincing himself not to eat after 7 PM, no matter what. My daughter-in-law has already taught her children to only eat a single ‘serving size’ of treats. The paint had to be sanded to a smooth base before I could re-paint. He lost weight.

But I imagined it pretty clearly, all bundled up in a brightly painted (red) sleigh, the horses wearing bells which jingled as they stepped through the sparkling snow. The day starts/started with my mother or me or now my daughter getting up and stuffing the bird and getting it into the oven. I can still picture it in my mind.

As you might remember, my daughter, son-in-law and grandson and I all live together. And while my dogs tend to stay down here with me, my daughters cats have no boundaries and basically roam all over. I was around the corner and screaming like a little kid for my son-in-law to come down and get it NOW!
