I have a rule now that if I want to buy a book, I need to donate one. My mother grew up on a farm, and from her accounts my grandmother and grandfather (who also was a foreman at the local glass factory, along with being an independent farmer) were frugal, and sometimes times were tight. Not at all. If we want it, let’s buy it.
