For 20 or so years I’ve been homeschooling my kids, and am now down to about 1 1/2 (one full-time homeschooler, and one doing College Credit Plus with some support). I have a rule now that if I want to buy a book, I need to donate one. And I am more conscious of eating leftovers and avoiding food waste.

Limiting waste is what really drives most of the habits I have that would qualify as “frugal” – reducing/eliminating food waste, returning unneeded items, pursuing refunds, checking on warranties, repairing things, etc. They had me, and then my mom decided to go back to school full-time and get a PhD.
