For 20 or so years I’ve been homeschooling my kids, and am now down to about 1 1/2 (one full-time homeschooler, and one doing College Credit Plus with some support). I live in the Great Lakes region, in the same state where I was born. I have a rule now that if I want to buy a book, I need to donate one.

Is there anything unique about frugal living in your area? My parents were married for 7 years before having kids, and during that time they both worked – my dad is an engineer, and my mom’s a nurse, so they made pretty good money! They had me, and then my mom decided to go back to school full-time and get a PhD.
