Look for a consignment shop in town, visit Freecycle web site, or check the Classifieds before you go to the store to buy new. Smart plugs can help you reduce the “energy vampirism” of your electronics. However, it makes sense to look for used items before you go buy new. You might be surprised at what you can get.

Yard sales are great, especially if you have a lot of stuff that you just want to get rid of, but if you have fewer yet more expensive items – electronics, furniture, etc – than selling through an online marketplace like eBay, Amazon or Craigslist may be a better option. Did you find something on Freecycle that you were planning to purchase?
